Prepping for the Oven Hot From the Oven Traditions

Witch Fingers

Preheat oven to 300.

Sift together Flour, Cornstarch and Salt. Set aside.

In mixing bowl cream Butter with an electric mixer. Mix in Sugar & Vanilla until mixture is fluffy. Stir in all the Pecans. Add flour and stir well. (Dough will be crumbly)

Place dough on wax paper on the counter, cover with another piece of wax paper and roll dough until it's about 12"x8" (1/4"-1/2" thick).

Using a sharp knife, cut dough into finger sized pieces.

As you place the dough on cookie sheet, twist "fingers" a little so they take on a crooked appearance. If you want, you can draw "knuckles" on with a fork. In a small bowl, mix a few drops of green food coloring with water. Using a pastry brush or small paint brush, paint the fingers green. Place a slivered almond on the end of finger to act as a fingernail. (Gently push into dough to hold almond in place)

Bake 12-15 minutes until edges are golden brown. (Remember it might be difficult to tell due to the green color so keep an eye on them).
