We hope that you enjoyed your 4th and hopefully a little downtime. We certainly did! We're back to being open Thursday & Friday 10:30-5:30 and 10-4 on Saturdays.
We've got some really great new merchandise that came in over the break. Plus we're excited to debut a little rebranding of some products and to be able to bring in New Lotion, Cuticle Oil & Wax Melt Scents! Lot of really great things happening right now in the shop.
This week you're going to find 3 different flavors of FUDGE in the shop! As you're out and about, we'd love for you to stop in! Our small business is so very grateful for every single one of you and we appreciate your support more than you realize right now. Thank you!
With so many new products, what could we possibly be working on next? Next on the list is a makeover to our mini Bath Bomb line & Bath Soak. We're also working on customized souvenirs & larger candles. There's always something in the works!
Watermelon Season is less than a month away, watch for updates!
The Notus Community Historical Society is asking for help and we're happy to jump in. After saved the original Fire Station in Notus and occupying it for over 16 years as a private, non-profit museum they're losing their location. The city has determined it would be better utilized as a maintenance building. The Museum is trying to find a new location and, wherever they end up, it's going to take money. I'm certain, as are they, that they'll find a new & better location, but they're also facing storage costs. Any amount you can give would be most helpful. Please take a look at the flyer to the right to read the whole story. When you come into the Garage, you'll see a plastic collection tub on the counter where we are collecting donations for them. (Every single penny in that tub will go directly to the museum - we're keeping nothing.) In addition, we have some beautiful photo cards showcasing some of Notus that we're are donating all the proceeds from those sales to the Museum.
On a more personal note, our own family is dealing with an unexpected and devastating event. Kim has been diagnosed with several different incurable, autoimmune diseases. On top of that (and in the same week she got her diagnoses) Vance was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and Stage 4 Metastatic Squamous Cell Sarcoma in both lungs. For the time being, we've canceled all our events and have shortened the shop hours. Huge shoutout to Randy for holding the fort down at the shop most of the time and covering during Kim's absences. A dear friend set up a crowdfunding page to help with the mounting medical & "life" bills. If you feel inclined, please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers and if you're able, we'd welcome anything you could give that would help pay the bills during this tough time. Thanks friends. Hug your loved ones a little tighter. Help here
Kim is the "mix master" behind all of our Kandles & Wax Melts, the brain and designer of Butterfly Kisses Lotion, creator of ultra moisturizing Bath & Body Products, the mad scientist behind our Men's line, primary purchasing for all the new merchandise, the web master and about a million other things all at once.
Renee has shifted her focus to Summer with her amazing decor and she's been hard at work cranking out more Kitchen Scrubbies! Did you know she has well over 50 years experience in floral, balloons, decor and every other creative endeavor you can imagine?
Randy is the man behind our amazing and popular Car Freshies, the room sprays, air fresheners and the collectibles. He's procured some awesome garage memorabilia including from when his parents operated the garage. His various beer, Pepsi, Coke classics and selection of collectibles are unique and desirable.
Vance is a man of many ideas and he loves to see those come to life. His disabilities greatly limit what he can physically do, but on those "good days", you'll find him puttering around the shop or see him waving to passing cars on the highway. Sometimes he's out there with a sign and wild clothing to get your attention. If you see him, wave back & honk to show support of local businesses in Notus, Idaho.
The Historic Notus Garage has been in Kim's family since her grandparents bought it in 1938. Originally a Wescott Oil Station, it would convert to a Conoco Station in the 40's. Kim's Grandpa, Lewis, was the only full-time, full-service mechanic in Notus (there were 7 Gas Stations at one point) & her Grandma, Helen, pumped gas and established what we'd call a "convenience store" today. Lewis passed in 1964, but you'll still find some of his treasures and keepsakes in the shop. Helen would continue to pump gas into the late 1970's/early 1980's (until gas was over $1 a gallon - the pumps didn't go above a dollar) to her loyal and much-loved customers. Over the years it has never been without a family run business of some kind in it, whether that be a retail store, a warehouse, production or a wholesale business. Kim is the third generation of Taylor's (with help from the 4th generation) to operate a business out of the Garage.
The Notus Garage is our primary brick and mortar location. We have joined cooperatively to help grow Notus' non-traditional businesses. This closed agreement will help to ensure quality products, including holiday decor, art, floral, balloons, and collectibles not limited to antiques.
Just to put this out there, (it's a question we get several times a week) we do NOT take in other consignment items.
